Telephone Conference Interpreting (TCI)
Interpreters and participants are in one room, the respective speakers are remotely connected.
In Telephone Conference Interpreting (TCI), the speaker is connected via telephone line. The interpreter does not have a direct view of the speaker, but can see the participants.
For interpreters, these are difficult conditions, because the telephone line is usually not of very high quality (speech intelligibility), and there is no view of the speaker, so that at least gestures and facial expressions cannot be seen.
