Audio and video transmission latency

Audio and video signals must be digitized if they are to be sent over a data line. Digitization results in latencies. Latencies are delays in the signal between the transmitter and receiver. For example, when a speaker says a word, it takes a certain amount of time for it to reach the listener. The better the quality of the digital signal is supposed to be, the higher the latency will be. Latency also occurs when data is transmitted over networks. The larger the data packets to be transmitted, the longer it also takes to transfer the data from the sender to the receiver. This is particularly important for video signals. The higher the resolution of the video image, the more data has to be transmitted, so the higher the latency. With higher data volumes, the demand on the network bandwidth also increases.
