Stenomask
A stenomask is used when conversations between several people are recorded or interpreted by another person, in particular Simultaneous interpreting.
The mask, which is positioned close to the mouth of the recording speaker, allows only the words of the recording speaker to flow into the recording or transmission and also prevents an acoustic "echo effect" caused by constant repeating in the same room for the actual participants in the conversation.

The first model of a stenomask came onto the market in the USA as early as 1954; at that time, a combination of microphone and dictation machine was being used to find a technical way to record reports on tape without any sound leaking out – and at the same time to be faster than the pure Stenographers.
