Simultaneous interpreting

This "simultaneous" form of interpreting has only existed since the Nuremberg Trials after World War II. During an event with two or more working languages, the interpreters work in pairs or threes from a soundproof Interpreting booth out.

Assignments include face-to-face events at major trade congresses and trade fairs, EU works council meetings, all kinds of political events, embassies, etc. with up to several hundred or even thousands of participants.

In addition, the use of these conference interpreters is becoming increasingly common in hybrid or digital conferences.
This is because video conferencing platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx, etc. increasingly offer audio channels for interpretation (usually via additional licenses). Here, of course, professional simultaneous interpreters must continue to be connected in the background via remote interpreting/remote.
