Audio streaming via WLAN to the smartphone

The smartphone has long since become an all-rounder in the pocket: Camera, multimedia player, games console, or news and communication center are just a few examples of its uses.
With the new Sennheiser Connect System, it will soon be possible to stream audio in the highest quality and transmission security directly and with multiple channels to the smartphone. The stream is provided via WLAN using the Sennheiser ConnectServer, and reception is via the listener's smartphone using a free app. In keeping with the motto "Bring your own device" (BYOD), a wide range of popular end devices can be used for this purpose.
Sennheiser presents an initial application scenario with CinemaConnect: Movie fans with visual or hearing impairments can connect to a WLAN network in the movie theater via the smartphone app provided. This gives them access to additional audio tracks for audio description or hearing support.
We at PCS find this technology extremely exciting and can imagine many other areas of application. According to Sennheiser, the system should be ready for the market in the fall.
