E DIN ISO 22259 Conference systems – Requirements – Equipment
This standard specifies the requirements for typical conferencing systems, i.e. their components as well as the auxiliary equipment (microphones, headphones and sound amplification equipment) necessary for their use and the environment in which they are used. These requirements ensure interoperability and optimal performance under normal operating conditions. It applies to wired and wireless systems. The environment and the areas in which the events take place are described in the appendix.
This standard allows defining the quality of conferencing systems, comparing different systems and evaluating their correct use by listing their characteristics. This standard contains the technical framework of ISO 20108 and ISO 20109.
Comment from PCS
This standard virtually summarizes the entire conference system (in our opinion, even the entire conference technology). It is intended to map the complexity of the systems, so to speak, from the various seating arrangements, to microphones, delegate microphone units, public address systems, camera systems, and webcasting. The entire package is listed complete with the normative references and the standards of the current standards are adopted. This draft is a particularly big challenge, because we have to make a general definition of "conference technology” in this case. This standardization work is a lot of fun for us, but it also involves a lot of work.
Our lexicon often seems like a journey into the past.
