Court interpreter

(1) If the proceedings are conducted with the participation of persons who do not speak German, an interpreter shall be called in. An additional record in the foreign language shall not be kept; however, statements and declarations in the foreign language shall also be recorded in the record or in an annex in the foreign language if and to the extent that the judge deems this necessary in view of the importance of the case. In appropriate cases, a translation to be certified by the interpreter shall be attached to the minutes.

(2) The use of an interpreter may be dispensed with if the persons involved are all proficient in the foreign language.
