Remote Hub
In a remote or interpreting hub, interpreters work centrally from a fixed location specially prepared for this purpose with professional interpreting technology – equivalent to a sound studio –.
The events to be interpreted are fed via audio and video lines.
The HUB can be installed at any location. What is important is a data line with a correspondingly high bandwidth and a working environment where the interpreter(s) can work professionally.
An RI hub: room or rooms that are optimally adapted to the needs of interpreters. The standard should at least be based on DIN EN ISO 2603 (from 2016) for fixed booths, but at best exceed it in terms of quality.
In order to create good working conditions, ergonomic and labor law aspects must be taken into account in addition to the technical aspects: a break room possibly with a kitchenette, meeting rooms with workstations, ergonomic seating, lighting and air conditioning should be considered when setting up a stationary HUB. The working conditions are clearly superior to those in a mobile interpreter booth with its limited space.
