Wireless
The term "wireless" refers to information transmission using electromagnetic fields or waves. Wireless transmission is divided into different areas. Here are the most important areas used in event technology:
Infrared: | 55 | kHz | to | 1000 | kHz |
8 m tape: | 30 | MHz | to | 45 | MHz |
2 m tape: | 138 | MHz | to | 250 | MHz |
70 cm tape: | 450 | MHz | to | 960 | MHz |
DECT: | 1880 | MHz | to | 1900 | MHz |
WLAN (2.4 GHz): | 2400 | MHz | to | 2483,5 | MHz |
WLAN (5 GHz): | 5150 | MHz | to | 5350 | MHz |
WLAN (5 GHz): | 5470 | MHz | to | 5725 | MHz |
WLAN (5 GHz): | 5725 | MHz | to | 5875 | MHz |
Bluetooth: | 2402 | MHz | to | 2480 | MHz |
Wireless transmission offers some advantages. For example, users can move freely in a certain environment. Longer cable distances are eliminated, which reduces set-up and take-down times, which is a significant saving, especially for microphone chains/table microphone stations. This therefore applies to wireless handheld microphones and clip-on microphones as well as wireless desktop microphone stations and other devices.
With the wireless Transmission technology however, care must be taken when selecting equipment to match frequencies and select antennas. If several companies are involved in hosting an event, the individual channels and frequencies may have to be allocated in advance.
