Specialist for event technology
The training occupation "Event technology specialist" is state-recognized (since August 1998). The training usually lasts three years.
The following knowledge and skills shall be acquired at a minimum:
- Vocational training, labor law, collective bargaining law
- Structure and organization of the training company
- Occupational safety and health
- Environmental protection
- Conception and calculation of events
- Assess the safety and infrastructure of event venues
- Planning workflows; working together as a team
- Provide, set up and test equipment and facilities.
- Securing, transporting and storing equipment and facilities
- Setting up and assembling event superstructures
- Organize, provide and check the power supply
- Set-up, setup and operation of lighting and projection systems
- Set-up, setup and operation of sound reinforcement systems
- Recording and transmitting image, sound and data
- Evaluate and perform special effects
- Realization of events
Training is available in theaters, multi-purpose halls, other event companies, film and radio companies, and event technology service companies. If a training company can only fulfill part of the training plan, training alliances with other companies are conceivable.

A training contract between the training company and the trainee is mandatory.
Training may be provided by all companies that can impart the above-mentioned knowledge and can offer trainers who are professionally and personally suitable.
- Master craftsman in a relevant field with IHK or HWK examination
- Graduate engineers with relevant specialization
- People with many years of experience in event technology
The training ends with an examination by a chamber of commerce and industry.
